SolidWorks® Add-in: Diff Tool
Description
This tool can only be used in drawings. The purpose of this tool is to compare two states of a drawing and retrieve the changes. These changes are recorded on the system clipboard as text, and can be pasted in a change document for quick logging. To facilitate more useful logging, the tool offers annotation naming capabilites. Two text output options are available. The verbose option can be used when more detail is preferred even when that detail is summarized in other output. The condensed option can be used when summarized output is sufficient.
If unicode characters are desired in the summary text, ensure that the chosen font has good unicode coverage. Unicode character display can be customized by changing the "UseUTF16Symbols" fields in the "Symbols.json" file from true to false and vice-versa. The "Symbols.json" file can be found under your computer's "ProgramData" folder at "ProgramData\Drafting Extensions\SolidWorks\Diff Tool\Symbols.json".

Known Issues
- SolidWorks will occasionally start numbering a note's paragraphs at 0 even if its paragraph numbering start property is set to 1. To fix this issue, highlight and right click the first numbering symbol contained in the note and select paragraph properties. When the paragraph property dialog opens, ensure the paragraph numbering start property is set to 1. Click Ok.
